Request a new sanbox course for a PLC page!

WHY?

Adding additional editing teachers shares the workload as everyone co-creates the content.
This helps to create ONE shared product instead of having PLC members build the exact same thing on separate pages.
Increase communication and collaboration across the PLC with unit planning, activity selection and design, student expectations, etc.

Step #1:

Choose which teacher will request the new sandbox course to turn into the shared PLC course. Request a new sandbox course.

Step #2:

That teacher will then open their selected sandbox course. Then, click on 'People' in the left navigation bar followed by the "+ People" button at the top right.

Step #3:

Enter the NISD email address for all PLC members that you want to add as editing teachers. Change the role from Student to Teacher.

Step #4:

All staff whose emails were just entered above will then click on their Canvas Course Dashboard where they will see a button to approve their new course invitation.

Step #5:

From the Canvas Course Dashboard, each PLC member will then click on the 3 dots for the course to change the Nickname to reflect the PLC name. As a reminder, the nickname makes a change at the individual user level that doesn't affect the system naming conventions. Thus, each person in the PLC will want to update the course nickname to show the same update for all users.

As a PLC, everyone can build content within this course. Students will NOT enroll in this PLC course; rather, it is just for teacher collaboration and course prep. This course can be used as long as it is useful for the PLC such as during summer course building as well as ongoing throughout the year. The whole course can be imported into individual auto-rostered courses in the Fall. After the full course content is copied onto the separate teacher's courses, individual modules or activities that are created can also be shared from this page.
